First Night Macon is a family oriented, alcohol-free, community-wide celebration that ushers in the New Year with art, tradition and festivity!  Each year, First Night Macon takes place in historic downtown Macon on December 31st, including venues such as Temple Beth Israel, St. Joseph Church and Social Hall, First Baptist Church, Washington Avenue Presbyterian Church, The Unitarian Church, Washington Park, and Coleman Hill , in partnership with MidSouth Federal Credit Union at the Cox Capitol Theatre.

Entertainment begins at 7 PM, and includes a variety of entertainment from acoustic guitar, party bands, garage bands, ragtime piano, ventriloquism, dance, theater, magic show, and much more!  The entertainment schedule from First Night Macon 2008 is posted below to give an idea of the progression of the night.  Trolleys and food vendors are available to serve celebrants and transport them between venues throughout the evening.

First Night Macon ends with a fantastic fireworks display on Coleman Hill at midnight.  Souvenir buttons, sponsored by the Medical Center of Central Georgia are $8 and serve as admission to all First Night Macon events.  Admission for children ages 5 and under is free.  Buttons are available in advance, as well as at the night of the event at al First Night Macon venues.  Come back and visit closer to the time of the event for a list of button distributors for First Night Macon 2009!
